What will I do in this position?
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Cultivate and establish relationships with potential and current business partners.
- Create, write, and present proposals for prospective partners that address their needs and goals.
- Compose on air messages for partners that conform with FCC guidelines.
- Serve as liaison between partners and Life 101.9, KNWS.
- Follow established processes to facilitate airing of the client’s announcements on Life 101.9, KNWS.
- Develop underwriting goals with Station Manager and consistently meet or exceed them.
- Facilitate billing and collection of monies due to Northwestern Media according to processes established by UNW Accounts Receivable Manager.
- Because our community is a significant part of our mission and the development of our students, all employees act as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ by actively partnering with the University to disciple students in growing intellectually and spiritually, and with Northwestern Media to lead people to Christ and nurture believers to mature in their faith.
- Secondary job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain open communication and cooperation with Programming and Engagement teams, as well as other staff, involved in funding partnerships.
- Assist with departmental duties as requested by the Station Manager.
What will it take to succeed in this position?
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Previous incentive-based sales experience a minimum of three years and experience in radio or related industry strongly preferred
- Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement and Declaration of Christian Community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a kind, caring, and professional manner
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor demonstrated by an outgoing, enthusiastic personality that is conducive to building relationships with clients and fellow workers
- Ability to efficiently and effectively prioritize projects, complete multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
- Ability to take initiative and work independently without close supervision and also take direction and work in a team environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Basic computer proficiency
- Knowledge and understanding of FCC rules as they pertain to broadcast stations
- Ability to secure and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and automobile
- Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
